Ridiculous.
All my life I have been telling people "Merry Christmas"; now it has become politically wrong to say it?
Just because some people could possibly, maybe, get upset, God may become virtually extinct in daily public life.
The fact of the matter is, God is a major part of this country and people need to learn to deal with it because God is not going to disappear.
God is everywhere in our nation. In the Pledge of Allegiance, it states that we are "one nation, under God . . . "
Students from 1st grade to 12th grade listen to this phrase each and every day.
In order to take an oath in court, a person places his or her left hand on the Bible.
When the president of this country takes office, he also places his left hand on the Bible to be inaugurated.
The U.S. Constitution and all 50 states' constitutions mention God or a higher power.
God is in our government, is in our daily lives and is what this country was founded upon. It is entrenched in the deep roots of the United States and it will not be shaken.
This does not mean that everyone must become a Christian; that's absurd. Our Constitution gives people the right to have freedom of religion, but it also gives them the right to have freedom of speech.
Having Christmas break in schools, nativity scenes in Chicago, Christmas tree lightings in public places and even telling a stranger "Merry Christmas" does not impose Christianity on other religions; instead it allows people to celebrate their beliefs.
To everyone who is reading this, Merry Christmas.
