Atletico Madrid coach Quique Flores is determined to get his side into the top seven in the Primera Liga before the Christmas break as he believes that will give his side a decent chance of achieving their objectives in the second half of the season.
After nine games, Los Colchoneros currently lie in 18th position but are just six points off Sporting Gijon, who occupy seventh spot and Flores believes that they can make up the difference in the six games before the winter break.
"We have to finish before the Christmas break in the top seven. We have two games against major rivals [Real Madrid & Villarreal]. I would like to face the final stretch of four months with things being normal," he told AS.
Following their 2-2 draw with Chelsea at the Vicente Calderon on Tuesday night Atleti prepare for Saturday's showdown with city rival's Real with a renewed confidence as they look to climb from their lowly position and fight for a place in the UEFA Champions League for next season.
